Connecting your FourteenFish portfolio to BMJ Learning & BMJ Portfolio

Sync your completed BMJ Learning activities directly to your FourteenFish CPD portfolio - automatically, as soon as you finish.

What does this integration do?

When you connect your BMJ Learning account to FourteenFish, your completed learning activities are sent automatically to your FourteenFish portfolio the moment you finish them. There is no manual exporting or uploading required.

Activities that sync include:

  • Completed BMJ Learning modules

  • Certificates of completion

  • Any associated files you upload (coming soon)

  • CPD credits earned

  • External uploads to BMJ Portfolio

ℹ️ Note: Your FourteenFish portfolio data is never pulled into BMJ Learning or BMJ Portfolio. The sync is one-way: from BMJ to FourteenFish.

How to connect your accounts

Connection is managed through BMJ Portfolio.

BMJ Learning users: you will need to visit BMJ Portfolio at portfolio.bmj.com to connect your FourteenFish account. You do not need to use BMJ Portfolio regularly - connecting here activates the sync for your BMJ Learning activity too.

  1. Log to BMJ Portfolio at https://portfolio.bmj.com/

  2. You will see a message on the dashboard (above) click Connect FourteenFish account

  3. You will be redirected to FourteenFish to log in with your FourteenFish email and password

5. Confirm that you want to grant BMJ access to your FourteenFish portfolio

6. You will be returned to BMJ Portfolio and your accounts are now connected (you will see sync/toggle options on your CPD table)

Once connected, any activity you complete from this point onwards will sync automatically. Previously completed activities will not be back-filled, but you can manually sync individual past entries using the toggle on each row of your CPD table.

What happens after you connect?

Once your accounts are linked:

  • Every activity you complete on BMJ Learning is automatically sent to your FourteenFish CPD portfolio

  • The sync happens immediately - no delays or manual steps

  • For past activities, use the toggle on each row of your CPD table to sync them individually

  • You can view your synced activities by logging into FourteenFish and navigating to your CPD portfolio

How to disconnect your accounts

You can disconnect the integration at any time from within BMJ Learning or BMJ Portfolio.

  1. Go to My Profile and find the 'Disconnect FourteenFish account' button

  2. Select Disconnect next to FourteenFish

  3. Confirm the disconnection

⚠️ Disconnecting will stop future syncing. Activities already sent to FourteenFish will remain in your portfolio - disconnecting does not delete them.

Frequently asked questions

Will my past completed activities sync to FourteenFish?

No. Only activities completed after connecting your accounts will sync. Previously completed modules will not be added retroactively to your FourteenFish portfolio. But you can manually sync them by enabling the toggle.

How quickly does activity sync after I complete a course?

Immediately. As soon as you complete a module in BMJ Learning, the data is sent to your FourteenFish portfolio. There is no delay.

Do I need a FourteenFish account to use this?

Yes. You need an active FourteenFish account to connect the integration. If you do not have one, you can sign up at fourteenfish.com.

I already have activities in FourteenFish. Will the integration duplicate them?

No. Only new completions from BMJ Learning are synced. Existing entries in your FourteenFish portfolio are not affected.

Can I use this integration if I access BMJ Learning through my organisation or trust?

Yes, the integration is available to all BMJ Learning users, including those accessing through an organisational subscription. Your individual account must be connected to FourteenFish - your organisation's administrator cannot do this on your behalf.

What if I disconnect and then reconnect?

If you reconnect your accounts, future completions will begin syncing again. Activities completed during the period your accounts were disconnected will not be synced retrospectively, unless you manually sync them once you're reconnected.

I connected my accounts but my activities are not appearing in FourteenFish. What should I do?

First, check that the connection is still active in your Account Settings. If it shows as connected, allow a few minutes and then refresh your FourteenFish portfolio. If the issue persists, contact our support team.

Is my FourteenFish login information stored by BMJ Learning?

No. BMJ Learning uses a secure OAuth authorisation flow. Your FourteenFish password is never shared with or stored by BMJ Learning.
